Immigration Experience:
Diana’s passion for immigration stems from having been on both sides of the issue. As the adoptive mother of five Haitian-born children, she has been on the requesting end of immigration benefits. As a legal representative, she has requested immigration benefits for hundreds of other families – and succeeded.
Diana had years of training in immigration matters prior to serving clients as an attorney. Initially she opened an international adoption agency of her own, primarily serving Haitian born children. There she learned the basics of immigration law by dealing with it firsthand. When she transferred her program to another international adoption agency, her knowledge and expertise in immigration law grew broader. Finally, after several instances in which government officials insisted that she was already an attorney, she, decided to attend law school and become an attorney.
At Mitchell Hamline law school, she graduated with honors. She was further honored by the American Immigration Attorneys Association (“AILA”) asking her to co-author a book chapter for other immigration attorneys about adoption immigration options.
